Maine Senate: Tom Allen - a study in opportunism
Mark Ellis has a post up at drivel del marcos:
So far, Tom Allen’s strategy has been to ignore the fact that he has a primary challenger and he’s been pretending that his challenger – Tom LeDue – doesn’t actually exist. Recently Democrats have been waking up to the fact that they actually have a choice for their party’s nominee for U.S. Senate and many are giving LeDue a closer look.
That fact hasn’t been lost on Allen. So in order to align himself more with his party’s activists, Tom Allen finished licking his finger and sticking it in the wind. Yesterday, he walked away from his long-standing relationship with the Clintons and endorsed Barack Obama for president.

Maine Senator Susan Collins stretches out lead to 23 points
MaineWebReport posted on an article from The Hill that shows Susan Collins continuing to build her lead against Congressman Tom Allen:
"The most recent poll on the Maine Senate race shows Senator Collins extending her lead to 23 points from the last published poll in November, which showed her ahead of Tom Allen 54-34. From The Hill:
In Maine, Sen. Susan Collins (R) had a solid lead over Rep. Tom Allen (D), 54 percent to 31 percent. The poll of 400 likely voters March 6-9 had a 4.9-point error margin."
The picture keeps looking worse and worse for Allen. Is it too late for him to try to get his House seat back?

Tom Allen Watch - Imaginary Accomplishments
Check out this post at Tom Allen Watch:
Here's the link: http://tomallenwatch.blogspot.com/2008/03/imaginary-accomplishments.htmlRepresentative Tom Allen is facing the bleak prospect of unemploymen this year, as he stares down the barrel of a 20 point deficit in his bid to unseat Maine Senator Susan Collins. Poll after poll has shown Allen's popularity hovering somewhere slightly above frost-heaves among Maine voters, and he's even having a hard time keeping Democrats interested. After sitting on his can for 12 years in Washington and getting nothing done, the Maine people aren't exactly thrilled at the prospect of giving him a promotion. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and Allen's game now seems to be to completely fabricate a record of accomplishment.
Dean Scontras Calls for End to Maine's Status as a Sanctuary State for Illegal Aliens
PORTLAND, Maine - Congressional candidate Dean Scontras called today for Governor Baldacci to terminate Maine's status as a sanctuary state for illegal aliens.
