Maine College Republican State Chairman Nathaniel Walton (Bates ’08) offered the following statement today on the success of the Young America’s Foundation 9/11: Never Forget Project organized by the Colby College Republicans on Tuesday:
“September 11, 2001 was a tragic day that all Americans, especially young people, remember with vivid clarity. For many young Americans, the anniversary of September 11 serves as much of a reminder of the terrible events of that day as it does an inspiration for them to live their lives in a more meaningful way. It is important therefore that remembrances of September 11 honor the lives of those lost in a manner free of politics and respectful of the poignant meaning that day has for so many Americans. Each year, Young America’s Foundation helps students across the country remember the anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks through the 9/11: Never Forget Project. Young America’s Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to ensuring that increasing numbers of young Americans understand and are inspired by the ideas of individual freedom, a strong national defense, free enterprise, and traditional values. The Foundation introduces thousands of American youth to these principles each year by providing conferences, seminars, educational materials, internships and speakers to young people across the country.
